SHAC-School Health Advisory Council School Wellness

The Board established a local school health advisory council (SHAC) to assist the District in ensuring that local community values are reflected in the District's health education and issues that impact student health.  They review all health related curriculum and make recommendations on health related topics.
The majority of members are parents of students enrolled in the District and are not employed by the district.  Current members for SY 2020-2021 are:
Jo-Ann Travis, R.N. & Hannah Bullard-Co-Chair, Dianne Griffin, Chelisa Krauser, Jennifer Strawn, Kristie Cole, and Sara Mackey

The SHAC meets 4 times a school year:
Meetings for SY 2020-21: Feb.3, March 10, April 14 and May 5

Below is the SHAC's Annual Progress Report to the Board

School Wellness Subcommittee was formed to develop, implement and review and update the wellness policy.  This policy outlines the District's approach to ensuring environments and opportunities for all students to practice healthy eating and physical activity behaviors throughout the school day.  The subcommittee met on May 5, 2021 to assess implementation of the wellness policy through the guidelines.  The triennial assessment was compiled and updates were made to the plan.
